Will, Tim, Earlene and myself got
up early, packed and hit the trail at 9:45 AM Friday. I took the lead with Will
behind. Shortly after hitting the trail I pinched my front tire on a rock and lost
some air. We stopped and I quickly aired it back up. Ended up being a real
poseur spot (hehe).
We then came upon Divorce Rock. I took one
line, Will took another.
We got to Ershim Meadow at 11:15 AM and stayed
until 11:45 SM. It was one hell of a beautiful place!
We then came to Lakecamp Lake another
beautiful place.
We then cruised the mountain tops
and pastures..
We then got to the 10,000 foot level
at 3:00 PM. We were above the tree line. What an awesome view! This is a
360 of the highest part of the trail.
We then started our descent down the
mountain with Huntington Lake in view.
We then got to were we could look down
on Deer Lake. At this point the rockcrawling was a blast! I guess this is the
area a lot of people don't like....but I enjoyed it!
Shortly after that (4:15 PM) we hit the end of the
trail at White Bark Vista.
Heading for the road we spotted
this groundhog...too bad Will's V-8 scared the little guy!
When you hit the paved road you
come to some well deserved restrooms. Only disappointment is there's no running
water, just pots to do your thing in.
Great trip, great people! I'm
very happy with the handling of my jeep.
Will I go again? I will if I ever stop
smoking and get this old ass in shape. It's hard to camp at 9,000 feet. The
trail was fantastic!
If you have the chance, go do the Dusy. Plan on taking your time and enjoy all
that surrounds you.
